I have an old Kubota(27yrs) It has been in my family since day one. I have personally mantained this machine since 1980. The engine was rebuilt(about4000hrs) in 1996 by the dealer. My problem is it no longer seems to run the rear mounted 60" mower. For the last 2 years this thing has just lacked power in any grass. The clutch seems ok, the engine runs great, so I am at a loss for an explanation. It seems the pto power is lacking. This thing handles about 18 acres(and always did) and the grass is getting longer. I do not want to buy a new machine. Any input? Thanks DC Smith

Don't laugh at me for saying this, but did you have the injectors replaced and the fuel pump rebuilt or replaced. (And/or including fuel Filter(s))?? I would think this step would be part of the overhaul but..... ....

Change your fuel filters and that might take care of it. When ever you rebuild at 4000 hours something caused that failure. We have those engines and tractors out with tens of thousands of hours on with only minor work. Injectors clogged, or just weak springs are a major reason for engine failure. Things you should also look at is the tractor smoking excessively? Do you have any fuel line leaks? there more than likely is a simple reason for your power loss. ....

I have a NH 1220 that I put new injectors in, and it had no power, one of the fuel lines was sucking in air.
You can run the tractor and losen one fuel line at a time, and see if there is a difference in the way it sounds.

How about the air filter? A tractor that old may have an oil-bath air cleaner. If so, maybe it is time to really clean out the canister. As others suggest, fuel filters may be dirty. Do you get a good flow of fuel through the shutoff when it is full open? ....

The air filter is good, the fuel filter should be replaced, and the injectors and fuel pump were supposed to be done at rebuild(1996). I will follow up on these sugestions. Thank you DC Smith ....
